Assisted Living Reviews for Cypress at Golden Gate

I visited this facility

Cypress at Golden Gate is a lovely building. It was a former hospital, and it's very well-kept. I like the apartments, even though they were very small. My friend needs 24-hour care, and they don't do that. I found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. The apartments were also very clean and well-designed. They've got a lot of things in the small space, and it's quite civilized for the size of the apartment. I went to the swimming pool and through the cafeteria. All of it is very nice, but it's quite expensive.

I know somebody that stays at Cypress at Golden Gate. They're pretty good. They have the standard assisted living amenities, and their activities are pretty good. They have entertainment, and they have a really nice lobby. Sometimes they have people playing classical music on the piano, and they serve you snacks. The residents seem to enjoy looking at the performances. The staff is pretty friendly, at least to me. You don't feel like you're in an assisted living facility. It's very clean, very modern, and very nice.

Cypress at Golden Gate was way more expensive. It's a really nice facility, and it felt like a deluxe 5-star hotel. The lady there is really great, available, and answered a bunch of questions even when she realized that I probably wouldn't be placing my husband there.

We found Vintage Golden Gate for my mom. It's excellent, close to us, and the best place by far that we have found. They have beautiful buildings. The staff is the best, and the rates are high but not incredibly high.

Vintage Senior Living at Vintage Golden Gate - San Francisco was a terrific, very well-maintained, and very well-run place. I would love it if my aunt would move there. The location was very nice.

Vintage Golden Gate was very nice, excellent, and fabulous. I really liked this one. However, I don't own a car, so being out on 19th Avenue, even with a driver, would feel very isolated. It was a lovely place, and I know people there. If I had a driver or if I drove, I might consider it. I was very impressed with the place.

I visited Vintage Senior Living. I think the facility was really clean and very big; however, there wasn't too much outdoor area for my father to walk around in. The staff was very personable and very friendly. They just need a little outdoor space.

We went to Vintage Golden Gate, and my sister and I liked that one quite a bit but my mother thought it was too large. We thought the activities are good, and the dining room was really nice; it was twice the size of the one in the other facility. I think that was a nice apartment.

Vintage was wonderful. I thought it was really lovely. I would love for my mother to stay there. The person who took me on a tour was lovely and very accommodating. I was very impressed with the look of the place. I liked how beautiful it was. There were people in the lobby with someone, I thought from the rescue foundation, because there was a dog, and they were enjoying that. It just had a really good feel about it. There was a very good sized one-bedroom apartment, and it was very lovely. It was something I wouldn't expect an assisted living place to be that nice. It looked like they had a lot of good stuff going on.

Vintage is very nice, and I was impressed. The staff was very pleasant, and they showed us the different rooms, the dining room, the tea room, the other special dining room, the library, and the garden. It was lunchtime, and they had a large dining room with a buffet. The dining room had a lower ceiling with wood paneling. I have visited one larger room. It had an alcove, like a living area, and it had a little partition for a sleeping area. It had a microwave and refrigerator. They had a lot of activities, like going on trips or taking you shopping. If you have loved ones living outside, they even bring you there so you can spend a few hours there. It's very nice, but it's very expensive.

The environment at Vintage Golden Gate is very clean and very bright. The rooms are quite nice and lots of them are quite roomy. They have ventilation and they have a lot of light, so that was nice. The staff is good and the dementia care unit has dedicated caregivers who are trained in dementia care. They have programs as well as living accommodations particular to people with dementia. They also have physical therapy, a lot of beautiful outside grounds, and they have the regular tours. They have a very nice dining facility, one for the general residents and then another for the dementia care residents.

Vintage Golden Gate was a great place but the apartments were a little bit smaller than what my mother was looking for. It has a great location, beautiful building and nice people. We had dinner and they have a live band and good food. They have a very good mix of people from all over and it's very "San Francisco".

This place is very clean, attentive staff on call at all times and from my experience, I can say that this is the best place I have ever been to when it comes to this type of senior care.I was afraid at first because of all the elder abuse stories, but this place is different. There is no danger of any kind to the residents here. They have memory programs that are helping my aunt before the disease gets progressivley worse, she is such a sweet lady, and the longer she keeps her cognitive functions, the better for us.Anyone in my city who needs help in this way, might look into this place first because if they do, they wont want to search any further.I am going to visit her tomorrow, and Saturday, the other days of the week she has therapy. Wonderful place.

My grandmother spent two years at Vintage Senior Living before poor health forced her into a nursing facility. Her time there was overwhelmingly positive. The facilities themselves were beautiful, clean and homey. Other assisted living facilities have the tendency to be cold, utilitarian and reminiscent of a hospital. Vintage was a warm, friendly environment. The weekly schedule was filled with activities ranging from art making to exercise therapy and bingo. The dining facilities were clean and elegant and the food was nourishing. Beautiful outdoor garden spaces made this a tranquil and relaxing environment for my grandmother. The staff was mostly excellent, especially the dining and activity staff members. Staff members seemed to be instructed in the ways of old-fashioned politeness and etiquette, which residents strongly responded to. Overall, Vintage was a well-appointed, serene and positive environment for my grandmother and for the seniors that called it home. Most importantly, it was a community that she belonged to, filled with her friends, her social life, her spaces. It was a nice place to live and a nice community to be a part of.

Vintage Golden Gate offers independent living, assisted living, memory care, and short-term care. I've referred clients there, and I know some of the staff. The staff is very good--knowledgeable and attentive. It's located on 19th Ave., out in the Sunset District, which tends to be foggy. They have nice grounds and a garden area, but it's not used much because it's often windy and cold. There's good access by bus and car, and good parking. The facility is quite nice, with a tastefully appointed lobby and a cheery, well lit dining room. The rooms range from very small to a few large rooms--and the prices reflect that. Many of the rooms have nice views. The main areas see a lot of social engagement: lots of groups of 2 or 3 playing cards or working puzzles or knitting. I give the food a B+; they offer a lot of choices and use fresh ingredients. There are a number of activities during the day: exercise classes, Bridge classes, card games, current events, etc.

Vintage Golden Gate is an upscale, beautiful place--but also pricey. They offer assisted living, independent living, memory care, and short-term rehab care. It's state-of-the-art and new: all private apartments in assisted living and independent living, with a variety of floor plans. And the apartments are large. It has a really homey atmosphere, weekly housekeeping and laundry service. It's even pet-friendly. It's in the heart of San Francisco--close to transportation (and they also provide transportation for doctor visits, errands, even to see family members). The staff is very professional, friendly--and they offer 24-hour care. One of the things that really stands out is the activities program. Every resident has his or her own plan, and they have a lot of choices: history, cultural, and educational classes; all kinds of exercise classes, etc. The food is another standout: They have a licensed chef, and the food is excellent. They even offer candlelight dinners twice a month, and each resident can invite guests.

Friend or relative of resident

My grandpa is currently residing at Vintage Golden Gate and speaks well of all of their services. The chefs provide two to three meals on a daily basis in a nice, diner/restaurant type of setting. My grandfather has reported that the cooks are very good at what they do. You can have up to three bedroom apartments, and they're kept clean by the workers. The building is new, about ten years old. It has a very large lobby and live birds! There's also a laundry room (workers do the residents' laundry but the room can be used by residents if they desire to use it), a salon, a library, and a garden. On top of that, the staff maintains activity rooms that keep the residents busy throughout the day. The workers themselves are very corteous and treat the residents with dignity. The price is very decent considering the quality of this place! 5/5 stars. Seriously consider using Vintage Golden Gates.
